BG> I wanted to be sure you were using the tuner on the VCR, and not the
BG> monitor (does the Sony have a tuner at all?).
BV> Sony KX-20PS1 "monitor" !!! What fucking tuner ?
BG> What sort of a stupid TV set doesn't have a fucking tuner?

A VERY expensive one. They charge more to take it out

BG> OK, you've done the hard part, and proved the Sony to be woking to spec.

I did that before asking for assistance.

BG> Waddya mean, "dunno"?
BG> All bloody women have hair dryers, even bald ones!

What, you mean like Rachel ?

..[Re: switches in the tuner panel]..

All set back to previous settings.

BV> But wouldn't the Tuner have it's own chroma section ?
BG> Sort of, but the decoded off-air signal is composite, and the
BG> colour should be there. Not too much can stop it, actually.

Well, sumfin is.

BG> If you do need the manual, let me know, ..[chomp]..
BV> Thanks but no thanks. It won't take that long. It would be a
BV> help if you could give me the part number I need though :)
BG> I'll check my manual and have a guess, but it could simply be an
BG> alignment problem, and you'll need the manual (and a CRO and
BG> Frequency counter) to do that.
BG> 10 minutes later:
BG> Mmmm, I hate to say this, but you're possibly looking at a leaky
BG> electro or similar, so the freeze will be necessary to locate it.

Great. I go out and spend $26 on a can of freeze, THEN he tells me
that I don't need it.

BG> You might also check the DC rails for excessive ripple (electro/s
BG> in PSU cause this, and it's not uncommon either), but you'll need
BG> a CRO to do that.

Hmmm...Unless Dieter is lurking, I'm outa luck on the cro. Are these
"suspect" elctros on the tuner PCB ? If so, I might just do a blanket
change on the lot of them. There is only about 6-7 from memory. The
real pain is getting at the bloody things and the continual
disassembly and reassembly of the bloody thing. What's even more
worrying is that I haven't found any spare screws yet.

BG> The offer of a loan of the manual still stands. ;-)

Let's see if the electros fix it first.
If not, then I'll take you up on it.

BG> Regards, Bill (say hello to the tribe for me as well)
BV> Tribal "Hello" is returned with lots of smiling faces.
BG> You mean that Michael and Aurelia actually remember me? ;-)

Yeah, why not. They're bright kids remember.
They got their mothers genes :)

Best Regards, Brenton
