If you're a total beginner, Turbo Pascal is probably the way to go. It is,
in ways, similar to BASIC only a hell of a lot more powerful. You can learn
a lot from just the online help, and by getting stuff like SWAG (a package
full of source code) and working out how people do things. I can programm
the basics, and I've never done a course in it, or read a manual.
