Not at all.  I thought you hadn't said anything because it was rooted.

Pretty unlikely.  My guess is that the original was possibly recorded on a
machine with a dirty CTL head, and when played on another VCR, the CTL
pulses are too low for it to lock the servo.  Why it should only happen
with your VS-15 is beyond me though.

Do you recall our original conversation just before you bought the Hi-8,
when I suggested that despite its lower market penetration compared with
VHS-C, that Hi-8 was still a superior system?  Well now you know it's true.
