Canadian datapoint:  Three police or peace officers (includes Police and a
variety of quasi-police organizations such as Fisheries and Oceans
enforcement staff) died in Canada last year.  Two were killed in car
crashes; one was killed in a helicopter crash.

The last time someone was shot and killed was February 2002.
