MR> This is totally cool. I haven't been on a BBS for years and probably decades. MR> I used to actually run a bbs for six years. I took it down 13 years ago, maybe MR> 15 years ago. MR> I used to stay up late all night writing messages to people and of course MR> watching people call my bbs. MR> Interested in knowing if the people using this echo are also old school bbs MR> users that miss the good ol' days of technology when not so many people had MR> access to it. It was like a true community back then. I've been around since before Al Gore created the internet. :) A geek at heart, I remember dialing into Canada Remote Systems online to grab files and message packets. Then, when the internet became available, you could start up a telnet session and plop yourself down into a unix shell and try (just TRY) to send messages using a vi editor. Then PICO came along and it got a little smoother. Remember lynx? :) Oh and the message bases were filled with people, all wanting to vent their opinions. It almost became a chore trying to stay afloat in that sea of occasional outrage. And if you became a moderator, you learned quickly to develop a thick skin. We're talking weapons-grade armour here. --- þ MM 1.1 #0366 þ* Origin: TECHWARE BBS - Since 1995 - www.techware.dynip.com (1:102/401) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 14/250 34/999 120/228 128/2 187 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/104 260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 SEEN-BY: 801/189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 5030/1256 @PATH: 102/401 943 10/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
