I've rarely run Max in WFC mode.  From your statement, it would appear that 
it does answer the phone when in the foreground?  If that is the case, have 
you made any changes in the default settings for an MS-DOS box?

Considering that you are on another continent, I'm sure you won't want to 
FREQ it from me.   I would suggest Bob Juge's site would be a good place.  
I don't recall the name offhand, but I'm sure that there are a lot of folks 
around here that do.  It should be something like www.juge.com, or some such.
