Replying to a message from Rob McCart 1:2320/105 to Gord Hannah, About Please, we surrendered, On Mon Feb 02 2004 RM> big business but the NDP would probably bury us in new taxes and Conservatives always will be big business. As far as taxes go I don't think any one minds paying them as long as we are getting fair value for the dollar and the money is wisely spent. I keep thinking of the Swedish and New Zealand models and am sure that they could be modified to suit Canada's needs. Womb to tomb with incentives to better oneself makes sense, this every dog for himself does not, look at what is happening in B.C. and Alberta right now there are people living in shelters that cannot afford to pay rent, and yes they are working, in plenty of cases families are living in shelters and both are working, but cannot afford the rent, food, clothing etc. I was reading in one of the papers that some communities shelters are full and people are sleeping sitting up, meanwhile the corporations keep getting richer, is there not some thing amiss in this formula? Some compassionate society we live in, ain't it? BTW minimum wage in Alberta is 5.85 per hour and in B. C. 8.15 per hour. The corporations would like nothing better than see every one working for less than 2.00 per hour. and still have no social conscience. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. We are a fine board trying to make it better. http://www.pris.bc.ca/ghannah ghannah{at}pris.bc.ca Cheers!
