The HP my brother has had for over a year now makes no coasters
unless you totally foul up the process yourself. I've
inadvertently moved too many files to a CD then not had enough
room for the TOC to 'close' it but the CD is readable in the HP
just not on my other machines that do not have DirectCD to load. 

fwiw: My brother has had nothing but courteous prompt service
from HP so far. No complaints yet. ;-)
