Well, I don't remember how long a copyright is good for anymore. The
laws changed about 20 years ago, but the older Disney material is NOt
covered by that change. Some Disney things have already expired, like
most of the VERY EARLY cartoons. I have many of them on tape from
non-Disney sources that made the tapes and distributed them AFTER the
copyright expired. I think the really old stuff expires after 60 years
and, if I remember, that stuff CANNOT be renewed. I know the copyright
on "Minnie's Yoo-Hoo", for instance, has expired and it is considered
public domain. "Song of the South" expires 60 years after the date of
it's first release. The stuff being made now (and since the copyright
law changed) have longer copyrights and can be renewed once. For
instance, Disney was able to make "Return To Oz" because the copyrights
on the Oz books have expired. They are now public domain.
