Humm. This is better than I've seem here and I'll have to investigate
why. You may be running a newer com.sys. I built pc5220.sys based on
usbser.sys and everyone that's running it ends up with the serial device
as COM5.

I was going to say there's something called EOP delay that might help, but
it looks like you are already using it if I am reading the logs correctly.
Have you tried any of the other special commands described in
PMFax\Readme.doc. You can get a bit more info on the modem with ZOC and
the ATI commands. Just do:
ATI0
ATI1
...
until all you get are errors.

I recommend is you log a good connection via the serial port so that you
can be sure you are looking exactly where the transmission fails.

This appears to be the initial failure. One thing that comes to mind is
buffer overruns caused by flow control handshake latency. When the modem
is connected to the hardware serial port, the latency is low.
You might want to try the &h2 special command discussed in readme.doc.
Also, see if lowering the speed even more just to get some more test data.
