Exactly. Bush is a Protestant fundamentalist himself and one of his core
constituencies is the religious right, of which Protestant
fundamentalists/evangelicals are the principle part. They also happen to be
by far the most vocal supporters of Israel for what they see as biblical
reasons.

The neo-con/Bush pro-Israel policy is both personal and political. It is
also not a little ironic in that the Protestant religious right has
traditionally been the most anti-Semitic concerning American Jews.
