    William Woody and his father try to drive to the area where they
had seen the object coming down, but find the roads blocked. The side
roads off Highway 285, from Vaughn, and to the west, are guarded by MPs

    Frank Joyce, a reporter and announcer for KGFL, calls Sheriff
Wilcox and inquires if anything interesting is happening at the office.
Wilcox refers him to Brazel. ( Ibid.)

   Col. Blanchard, Orders Jesse A. Marcel, the intelligence officer, to
investigate Brazel's debris. Marcel goes immediately to the Sheriff's
office. Marcel interviews Brazel, examines the pieces of material
Brazel brought with him, and decides he had better visit the ranch
himself.
  Marcel returns to the base and reports to Blanchard. Recognizing he
has something very unusual, Blanchard, informs his superiors.
  Marcel returns with Cpt. Sheridan Cavitt, to Wilcox's office. They
