Upgrading the thing appears to have very few options so money thrown at this machine would be better saved and spent on a generic system bought bare bones. I didn't recommend XP CA> to her (or anyone else). :-) Got a cerified Microsoft guy lived next door said forget XP anything short of a 1.5 GHz machine and at that he said it'd be just adaquate! Landlady just plunked down big bucks on a new proprietary box for several times the cost of one that can be had that can be substantially upgraded. Yup MickeySoft is sure making things cheap for those that are willing to take the time to optimize software. Seems in the long run at 200 bucks Windows 2K Pro is cheaper than XP at 1/4 the cost due to the latter using so much in the way of system resources. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:275/311) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 275/311 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
