So I would be aware that the Russians could probably use "defending
syria" as a good way of getting "sophisticated threat
experience" for their weapons designers & operators.
Heck everyone needs to carry out live fire training.
They could certainly protect against any Israeli attempt at a naval blockade.
They should set up of FOB port close to the Lebanese border or possibly (if
requested) they could sail their squadron down for a beirut port visit.
