NICAM as far as I know is only in the UK (Although I may be wrong!)
It is a digital audio signal transmitted with the video signal, that means
all five (wow!) of our TV channels! have CD quality stereo sound.
But both my VCR's only record in Analogue so if you record something from
this source and play it back it's supposed to be degraded (probably is)
but so little that you can actually tell the difference as the high S/N
ratio is kept and 20Hz - 20KHz - response is kept.
