Thanks to T. Troy McNemar who originated the Legion Chat Reports; so much
of the format of these writeups was derived from his hard work.
DISCLAIMER: I can't guarantee the reliability of this report. Essentially,
the Legion chats involve about twenty-five fans shouting repeated questions
to the creators. The creators are sometimes unable to answer questions
thoroughly or clarify their responses. As a result, misinterpretations may
occur on my part.
SPOILERS: Information that spoils current or upcoming issues is found
toward the end of this report. There's no spoiler space to separate such
info from the more general comments.

:=========================:
Jeff is now working on L* #64. About a couple months after that is
#1,000,000.
With Jamie Delano, Peyer is co-writing BIG JUSTICE, "about a privately
owned prison in the near future". This miniseries, drawn by John McCrea be
his first Vertigo work since his editing days there.
Peyer's favorite Legionnaire for the moment is Brainy, especially with
what's coming up with him. Peyer also likes Jan, and would like to focus
on him. Jan will be developed, though Peyer couldn't say when.
Former editor KC Carlson wants a Fatal Five story.
No plans for a Starfinger return.
Jeff hasn't designed any new planets recently, but he might soon.
McCraw said that the reason why the 40th anniversary celebration is a bit
late (it arrives with June cover dates, whereas ADVENTURE COMICS #247 was
dated for April 1958) is "because not everything works out perfectly".
This week, McCraw is recoding the colors for the eight volume of the LSH
Archives, which includes the Legion of Super-Villains. He probably won't
be finished with the CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS reprint until June.
Lori's blob form in L* #60 was Roger Stern's idea; Jeff designed the
visuals. McCraw would have liked to see "Blobbetta" on a rampage.
McCraw said "there is supposed to be" a short Legion story in the
ADVENTURES COMICS 80-PAGE GIANT. He might write it. Jeff thinks he could
fit an extra 10-page Legion story into his schedule, but he hasn't been
asked yet. Peyer is writing a Tales of the Bizarro World story for this
giant. While he'd love to write a Bizarro Legion, they do not appear in
this story.
Jeff wasn't sure if the shape of the Time Trapper's dialogue balloons
(assuming it was him/her) on the last page of L* #60 were a hint. McCraw
said it wasn't a hint of a Superman connection.
The bar patron wearing an Ultra Boy-like costume on pg. 10 of LEGENDS OF
THE LEGION #4 wasn't Jo; it was one of the Dragon gang he associated with.
Since he didn't write LotL, McCraw didn't know why Thom's powers were
dissimilar to Jo's, when they supposedly got them the same way. McCraw is
"still looking for that comet".
There will be many brand new villains in the coming year.
We'll learn more about Jeka's mother soon.
Cham was the character that McCraw had the most fun with in the upcoming
Dark Circle story. Cham doesn't do that much, but he does get development
and resolution.
Jeff has plans for Catspaw, but he warned, "just because I have plans for
her doesn't mean they'll get done". McCraw said, "no firm Catspaw plans
t".
Jeff couldn't decide which preboot character was his favorite to draw in L*
#61, which features mostly the Adventure-era Legionnaires, with other
periods briefly represented. He used the Archives for reference, and
there'll be lots of scenes of the team, as Troy said, "standing around
stiff and Forte-like." This is the only chance we'll have to see any
return of Gim. No one will keep his or her preboot costume after the
timeslip story is finished.
Peyer said that Luornu "beats the sprock out of somebody" in LSH #107.
When asked whether that "somebody" was male or female, Peyer said "both,
sort of".
The big Dark Circle story will thread through the Legion books until LSH
#107, when each book will feature separate stories for a while. One book
will feature an Outpost-based group, while the other will feature a group
at LSH HQ. Members of each team have yet to be determined; there'll
probably be some rotation between the groups' membership. It's likely that
the team without the Legion leader will have a field leader, or the deputy
leader.
