Yup & it's also the concept of an "area weapon" vs what
Israel was saying wrt "purity in arms" & "precision
strikes". Is laying what is in effect an unmapped minefield for the
"lebanese who you are not fighting" to find for the next few
years really "purity in arms" & "precision warfare only
targeting hezbollah"?

Imagine if said cbu's had gone off over Haifa or indeed a "troop
marshaling area"

Area weapon. My favorite is the FAE (Fuel Air Explosive) as that makes jam
out of whatever is below.....oh I mean it "clears minefields by
exerting an over pressure"......

Generally classed as "SNM" (sub nuclear munitions) as you can
make (esp FAE's) quite large & as a result they can have a near nuclear
footprint. An attack a/c loaded with cbu'es can "sterilize" a
fair area of land.

However.....Israel was talking about precision weapons, taking care not to
harm innocent civies etc all the while it was laying down cbu "danger
areas" for farmers, kids, hikers, etc to "discover" coz
there ain't no maps.

But hey.....Israel left large minefields in Southern lebanon & has
refused to provide maps (maybe it doesn't have any) last time it was in
country so it's not like blowing body parts off the innocent is a novelty.
