I'll admit to having dumpster dived some pretty good stuff from in back of
supermarkets a while ago.   Its really quite amazing what
can be found there.  Discontinued product lines (I got a lifetime supply of
cooking oil that way).   Any meat you pass on of course,
but a few cases of lettuce or leeks with some small easily trimmed off
brown spots is hard to pass up ;->

Timing is everything - don't want the local feline/rodent population to get
first crack at the good stuff...
