Lou,
I can't speak for Bob, but my own personal observations are this.
^^^^^^^^ For every one person that requests
an OS/2 version of PowerBASIC we get twenty requests for a Windows version.
I think you can do the math from here.
Also, as I have said a number of times to others, if you can port a million
lines of assembler code from one operating system (DOS) to another (OS/2) any
faster, please send us your resume.
Now that PB/DLL is shipping I have come to appreciate the pitfalls of writing
assembler code in a new platform (ie: Windows). When writing ASM code for
DOS I can churn the code out quickly and easily, but my production level
drops 80% or more whenever I start messing with Windows memory objects, DOS
interrupts, BIOS interrupts, etc..
Bob's a hell of better programmer than I am, but he's not a secretary who can
type at 100+ words per minute, nor can any of the other in his staff.
Yes, we ARE going to ship an OS/2 version of PowerBASIC. No, I have no clue
as to when it will ship (I can't even remotely guess). But Bob is bound and
determined to do it. And I can assure you that IBM is not letting him forget
either.
