Not really familiar with Betamax's myself, I know they were supposed to be
better quality than VHS but VHS just took off as the standard, I was
un-aware that they even bought out Stereo Betamax's but as your in USA...
I don't know of any VHS deck that can do that, handy feature that!
One of my VHS VCR's has got an Audio Dub facility, this allows you to play
the tape, the picture and Hi-Fi Stereo tracks are kept the same but you can
re-record something onto the Linear mono track, Not so useful as the method
with your Betamax though.
