subject: [OS2HW] Printer distance

From what I read a parallel printer cable needs to be in some multiple
of 3 yards or 3 meters or some such, depending on who wrote the copy.

I think a 27 foot or 9 meter cable (who cares about a mere 27 inch
difference) would serve my purposes.

Given a proper cable, is there any performance falloff with one that
long or longer?

Exactly what constitutes a proper cable? Shielding? Twisted pairs?
Both. Neither?

Which handles distance better, parallel or USB?
