I found the words of Alan Dershowitz to be quite powerful because he showed
the intent of the founders. 

We heard of the struggle of impeachment within those early days of the
founders. We also learned what the requirement would be or basis or reasons
why impeachment would be sought. This was a education in knowledge to show
that there was no cause for such an impeachment. 

This is why they failed to make their case.

In short there was no constitutional justification for impeachment.
