The IBM driver only supported one USB to Serial "chip set", and I don't 
recall which it is at the moment.


There are 3 or 4 Manufactures of USB to Serial converters "chip sets".

Note that this is different than the Brand Names of USB to Serial 
converters, since multiple "Brands" of USB to Serial devices can use the 
same USB to Serial "chip set".


Belkin appears to use the Phillips USB to Serial "chip set" (e.g.
"USB 
to Serial Converter Driver(Philips)")


The company I work for re-sells a "Prolific" USB to Serial
"chip set" 
device.  Actually we have sold two different "Brand Names" of USB to 
Serial devices, but both have the "Prolific" USB to Serial
"chip set". 
And I have not been able to get the IBM drivers to work with the 
Prolific "chip set".  I do have the Source Code for Linux, for the 
"Prolific" USB to Serial "chip set"...


Can you provide any further information about your USB to Serial adapter????
