Most of us (at least I am) are from the old school of thought, It don't make
it run any better, so whats the point to having it? (No comments from the
environmental fanatics on this issue.) That coupled with the fact that
non-emmision controlled vehicles where the most common around us, all that
junk in the engine compartment makes it look like a mess.
Personally, unless I have no other choice, I'll never own a modern fuel
injected vehicle, or computer controlled vehicle. Plain, simple, and
something I can fix on the fly by the side of the road if necessary.

You should never get rid of a PVC system. It falls into the emmisions
catagory, but its one of those peices that actually are worthwhile since it
rids the crankcase of fumes at all engine speeds (as opposed to the old
style tube hanging down under the car relying on the suction effect as the
car moves to purge the crankcase.)

I'd hazzard to say that just about everybody here has experimented to some
extent. On my car disabling EGR allowed the engine to rev much more freely.
And the net result was that I had a 200rpm drop at 60mph cruising with it
disconnected. And then there was the bad air pump that left many moons ago
(air pump itself had toasted bearings, along with a bad check valve when it
went bye-bye)

... New computer? But I like my vacuum tubes... They keep me warm.
