Did you try what I suggested? That should fix Python on any *nix OS.

Install python 2.7, install the library from the other post, and create a
symlink to python from python2.7 in /usr/bin


I had the exact same issue and fixed it in about 15 mins. I am on a Debian
based district.

Follow that and it will fix your issue.
