Chris is right, but here's another possibility to consider.  It does
fall prey to other macros "undoing" what it does but here it is anyway.
(In a macro that's autoloaded...)
proc ReadOnly()
    AbandonEditor(0)
end
proc WhenLoaded()
    Hook(_ON_FILE_SAVE_, ReadOnly)
end
This is far from bulletproof but for a quick fix it may work well enough
for what is needed.  Unlike the other macro this one will let you make
changes but it will not save them.
