there is something to be said about our resources being used to
get A.C.B. messages out, but any such resources would be
negligible. In fact, they would probably be no more and possibly
less than my having to plow through spam e-mail which counts
against my time which I have paid for. But I submit that those
resources are a lot less than we have spent on this Mr. Magoo
foolishness which is making us look incredibly stupid
As a matter of fact, along that line, I heard from a friend of
mine who attended a state leadership seminar in which Marc Maurer
participated. He brought with him a letter criticizing the Magoo
matter as well as his response and according to the report I
heard, his written response to the person was something to the
effect that he had to defend the convention's decision whether or
not he personally agreed with it since the convention passed the
resolution. I think everyone on this list knows that if this is
true, his response is a cop-out. The national leadership sets
the direction in which the organization goes and in fact
instituted this resolution. If they didn't like it they could
have killed it by speaking against it. I think maybe our
leadership has seen that the general public is not with us on
this one and they would like to back out of it but can't find a
way to do it other than the obvious one, admitting they made a
mistake.
Regarding the Levi Straus ad which represents at best a
misrepresentation and at worst a clear danger to dog guide users,
this is something both organizations could work on together in much
the same way we have formed a committee with R.S.V.A. and Sagebrush
to help preserve the Randolph-shepherd program.
