If there is such research, you haven't yet cited it. I
haven't seen anything in any of your posts which would
indicate that conventional (which must ALSO include some
approximated spellings along the way) is LESS effective
than approximated spelling at teaching SPELLING...

who shudder whenever we read students' writing these days!
