:) Well, its not quite _that_ bad. Though once I worked out most of the
options I use, I carefully wrote them into batch files, since I'm sure
to have forgotten them by the time I want to use them...

I'm still puzzled as to why blanking a new RW disk should cause you not to
be able to use it. I use quite a lot of RWs, simply because I have
several CDs that get rewritten often. I would have been most unhappy if
I'd started losing the media at the rate you describe.

You're welcome, though I don't see that (other than ejecting the disk
at the end of the blanking cycle and trapping a non-zero errorlevel
return) that you're doing anything much different.

:( It used to be against mine as well. However, the sort of storage
that I use now precludes me using SCSI hard drives. And when I install
my new DVD burner, I will be all IDE. This machine uses an SATA drive,
the other PATA stuff. Pity, but I simply can't afford the amount of
drive space I need using SCSI anymore.

Same SCSI HA that I use (an Ausus model). I did have some problems with
CDRecord using some of the SYM8XX.ADD drivers I've used. Though I don't
think those problems could ever cause quite such a specific problem as
the one you have - from memory I got some errors on SCSI execution
commands. I also had some very strange results when I had both the
53C875 and a smaller (53C810A?) based (narrow) HA in the same box. I
lost the serial ports and had some other strange faults under those
circumstances...
