PE>>> be really useful if someone who actually used this bloody
PE>>> stuff would actually make sure the documentation was
PE>>> correct, and also update TinyPoint. Hint, hint, Dieter,
 PE>>> Dieter.

 DM>> Did I promise something ??

PE>> Not in such strong terms.

 DM>> I have a faint niggly feeling that I
 DM>> did. Can I renege ??
 PE>>
PE>> NO!!! You have to use it anyway, you may as well fix it up to
 PE>> what works.

DM> Hmm, we'll see. Do I really have to read the doc's ??? How

Not particularly. It's more important that you write them. I
don't think they are particularly accurate at the moment.

DM> different is the new implementation of PKT to QWK over previous
DM> release ?. That info you gave the phone is somewhat different
DM> to what is in the original MAKEMAIL of Brenton's.

Yes, a lot has happened since then, and it needs updating. I
think it would be a good idea if you asked everyone here what
parameters they were using to PKT2QWK and QWK2PKT to find out
what REALITY is. And compare that to what is actually documented
in PKT2QWK, and what is actually in MAKEMAIL, and then hassle
me about any discrepancies. If I suggest a particular parameter
should not be used, then others can try it out and see if I am
actually right.

DM>> BTW, with PKT2QWK, if I use a parameter of say Joe Bloggs
DM>> instead of my name, would I see my own generated mail within
 DM>> that newly generated QWK?

PE>> No. That just governs what you see under "personal messages".
PE>> If you want to see your outbound messages, you need to drag your
PE>> outgoing PKT in with your incoming packets. Ask one of the others
 PE>> to elaborate.

DM> Yeah, I saw that with Bob's, but it still doesn't ensure that my
DM> outgoing mail has been correctly received by the host BBS.

How do you suppose that I know that my mail has been correctly
sent to Dave Hatch?

DM> But can you do it on a point basis ? e.g. For some reason 4th
DM> Reich has been detagged by your BBS, but I used to have it in
DM> the past as I used to post the occasional mail in Z3 Tech. But
DM> now my mail is going to 4the Reich, which is the conference
DM> immediately prior to Z3 TEch, according to my Tenmin.Tbl. Who
 DM> deselected it ? It wasn't me.

I've just gone and scanned all my netmail (ie 1.5 years worth),
and you have never selected FOURTH_REICH. When I created
FOURTH_REICH I didn't add it in to everyone as I didn't think
everyone was interested in it. Unlike ISO_C, which I figured
EVERYONE was hanging out for. Anyway, what probably
happened with you was that you made a complete abortion of
your setup, and used bits from here and bits from there, the
old PKT2QWK used to be 0-based, the new one is 1-based, the
old one required manual editing of control.dat, the new one
runs everything from the table.

In short, the sooner you update TINYPOINT with accurate docs,
the sooner you can rest easy that the next time you wipe out
your hard disk, all you have to do is download the latest
TinyPoint and be done with it.

HINT, HINT, HINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The world is a complete abortion. Please support clean up the
world day. BFN. Paul.
