Add to that automated reading of license plates - toll booths, speed
cameras and (in the UK) Trafficmaster.

When I fill up at the local Morrisons in Kettering, the till receipt shows
my registration number - automatically read from the CCTV.

You can't move in the UK without being filmed.  I went into a CD store in
the Mall of America in Minneapolis a while back and was somewhat disturbed
by what I thought was an over-attentive salesperson - then I remembered
that US store generally don't have CCTV surveillance and he was just making
sure I didn't steal anything.
