I guess that would apply to just about any reccommendation.  By the time
someone figures out what to reccommend it's off the market!!!!!!

Of course in the sense that consensus is never made anyway you would be
right.  By the time never comes all mobos are gone and rotted.

I guess it might depend on how strongly you desire the hottest thing
out.  I'm not sure I have every bought a mobo that was still being
pushed by the manufacturer.  Reliability is much, MUCH higher on my
priority list than hot/new.

So maybe my question should be, "Wouldn't it be odd if there was ever a
consensus on any mobo for any given purpose out of the thousands or
millions still on the market from whenever?"

And I think the true point is that a company that worked for quality and
put a great mobo one time might try riding on their reputation on the
next one and put out a mediocre board.  They aren't consistent.
