FRANCE--The national struggle to turn users of the French Minitel
system into Internet users has gotten a boost, with France Telecom's
announcement November 17 of market trials for SurfTV. The system is
aiming at integrating a Web browser, e-mail, and Minitel functions,
all on a TV set-top box. ("Wired News")

WRTH--We're sorry to report that Editor-in-Chief Andy Sennitt and
Managing Editor Bart Kuperus are both leaving the "World Radio TV
Handbook" at the end of this year, after finishing the 1998 edition.
(Anker Petersen in "Shortwave News") They've done a tremendous job,
adapting the WRTH as satellite has more and more replaced shortwave
and Internet broadcasting has emerged, while walking the thin line
between broadcasters (and advertisers) and DXers during a difficult
period in the publishing market. We hope the WRTH can survive and
maintain its high quality without them.
ILG--There's still no www.wrth.com, but take a look at:
http://www.ilg.nexus.org
This carries an cutdown version of Bernd Friedewald's "Shortwave
Frequency Database". The full version includes all stations between
2.3 and 30 MHz. Purchasing information and a free evaluation copy of
the of Summer 1997 edition can also be downloaded from the site.
