| subject: | IRL - Pollard to test Pro Series car Tuesday at IMS |
From: Michael Powell Brad Pollard Returns Family Name To The Indianapolis Motor Speedway INDIANAPOLIS, IN: Versatile racing veteran Brad Pollard will test an Indy Racing League Menards Infiniti Pro Series car for Sam Schmidt Motorsports on October 28 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during a private testing session. Pollard, the 2002 SCCA Formula Mazda Southwest Division and National Division Champion, is a member of the famous Pollard racing family of the Pacific Northwest area. Brad’s late cousin Art Pollard qualified for six Indianapolis 500 events. “I am very excited about testing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and moving another step closer towards my ultimate goal of returning the Pollard name to the Indianapolis 500,” said Pollard. “I truly appreciate the continued support from Sam Schmidt Motorsports. We are working hard to secure sponsorship for the 2004 IPS and IRL season.” Pollard competed in the final two 2003 Indy Racing League Menard’s Infiniti Pro Series events at California Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway for Sam Schmidt Motorsports. “It was unfortunate the track time was so limited in California and Texas. He has shown consistent improvement and we are looking forward to testing him at Indianapolis,” said Sam Schmidt. Pollard, from Redmond, Washington, has also competed in SCCA Autocross, WERA Superbike, SKUSA shifter karts, SCCA Formula Mazda and Skip Barber Pro Dodge Series events. In 2002, Pollard secured the SCCA Southwest Division and SCCA National Division championships by capturing 11 poles and 14 victories in 21 races. Pollard’s athletic resume also includes professional ski racing, college pole vaulting and college football. More information on Brad may be found at www.pollardracing.com. The Menards Infiniti Pro Series is the official development series for the Indy Racing League and follows the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series to America's premier oval tracks. Powered by a Q45, 450 horsepower engine with a six speed sequential gearbox, the Dallara built chassis can average speeds in excess of 190 MPH on a 1.5-mile super speedway and reach speeds over 200 MPH on super speedways like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. --- Internet Rex 2.29* Origin: The gateway at Capitol City Online (1:2320/105.999) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 2320/105 261/38 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
