Not all motherboards make all slots share with other slots, but in most
cases each of several or even all slots share with onboard devices. On a
lot of boards slot 2 and/or 3 will get a unique IRQ.

Sharing tends to be considerably less problematic with modern OS kernels
that aren't limited to 15 hardware interrupts. Doze and Linux routinely
use interrupt numbers in the high teens and in the 20's.
