Maybe it shouldn't. But it does. In this discussion, I pointed out that
even in today's society a man's role is still to defend and provide for
women and children.

Many people have taken exception to this, presumably because they find it
vulgar to consider money as an important ingredient in a relationship or
because they find gender stereotyping offensive and would like to think
that women do not seek out men who are financially secure.

Still, I have not yet had a single response indicating to me that this is
not the case.
