Richard Town wrote the following to Craig Ford, and I quote (in part):

CF>> V.502 works at V.34, not at K56Flex.
RT> I think you'll find that it was the v.11* series that was K56Plus
CF>> K56Flex was actually Rockwell's K56Plus.
RT> What proof do you have that ver.502 was actually K56Plus not
RT> K56flex?
Look at the dates Richard.
RT-> In what way was .502, .516, or 1.02 series _not_ K56flex?
CF>> The ROM mask of v.502 was cast before Lucent even got into the mix.
RT> Think you'll find that was ver.11* which Zoom never shipped
I'm not just refering to Zoom alone.
CF> That is the code that Rockwell supplied to vendors using both
CF> fixed and Flash ROM architechtures. That was all they had to offer.
RT> Impossible. K56Plus code didn't have the ability to Flash the
RT> datapump coz there were no Rockwell flashable datapumps at that
RT> time.
There were none in wide distribution.
RT> Ascend and Cisco servers work alright with all versions.
RT> And are backwards compatible with K56Plus AFAIK
RT> (there were no released K56Plus models from Zoom btw)
CF> Ascend was the first to market with any K56???? server, and what
CF> they were using was K56Plus. That is the _only_ server code that
CF> Rockwell had to offer.
RT> Yes, the Open Forum hadn't formed then, but thanks for your
RT> confirmation that there _were_ places which accepted K56Plus calls
RT> (which you've earlier denied)
Just a matter of two months ago. For 2.5 months of client sales, there were
NO servers of _any_ kind in existance.
CF> The Hayes swap program is in effect now.
RT> Ah, havn't seen their swap program yet. If you have it saved,
RT> could you post?
Will do If I can find it.... I've had a bit of a problem with OS software
here recently, and am FAR behind.
