-=> Quoting Keith Sayers to All <=-
Hi Keith,
KS> I have picked up a contract working with Access version 1 (but
KS> they do have vague hopes of moving to version 2!) and am struggling a
KS> bit with almost no documentation. The Help screens refer to 'the
KS> Introduction to Programming book' and I have a message from Abb Naklie
KS> in this echo some time back mentioning 'the Language Reference Manual
KS> from Microsoft'. So I wrote to Microsoft in Sydney (their Oz office)
KS> and seem to have beaten them - all they can offer is 'Field Guide to
KS> Access 2 for Windows' (plus some others that seem not relevant). Would
Obviously they lost the manuals that came with Access 1, and unfortunately,
I no longer have that version. So here's a couple of suggestions. If you're
lucky enough to still have the sample database the came with it, NorthWest
Traders, take a close look at it. You'll find that much of the "programming"
is actually done via macros. Access macros are powerful and unlike macros
like those in dBase. If you don't have this sample then perhaps you could
find a book on Access 2 such as Access 2 for Dummies, Access 2 Programing
for Dummies (don't let the "Dummies" name turn you off or fool you because
they're certainly better than nothing), or Using Access 2 (Que). Although
the Access interface has changed a bit from version 1, much of what is
in these books will apply to 1, especially the macros - you'll just have
to play with them.
Good luck!
Abb Naklie
