Hi JIM HOLSONBACK, hope you are having a nice day

PW>> Fwiw if it's like the FIC PT-2006 I had to go back to after the FIC
PW>>PT-2200 I was using died, you can use 4 simms and no dimm or you can
PW>>use *2* simms plus 1 dimm of up to 32meg as 64 was untested at the time.
JH>Hmm. Did the manual say anything about whether the DIMMS supported were
JH>to be 3.3v SDRAM vs. 5v FPM or EDO? I dunno, but if FIC was aware that

Nothing mentioned abt voltage. Just says that you can use from 4m
to 64m FPM or EDO in the simm slots and up to 64m EDO or SDRAM in
the dimm slot. Bank 0 is simms and bank 1 is simms/dimm.

And since the 2006 is what I'm typing this on I can't chk for
a Vsel jumper. :>

JH>the 64MB DIMMS were on the way, they may have set up for them in
JH>advance, or perhaps there was a later BIOS revision after the 64's were
JH>on-hand which would allow it to accommodate them.

Afaict it was setup in advance.

JH>I know some of the late Socket 7 boards had a pair of jumpers near the
JH>memory slots, and they could be set for either 3.3v or 5.0v DIMMS.

Uh huh, I know a sysop who got reminded of that the hard way w/ a
nice *new* 32m pc100 dimm back when those were still high ticket items.

Wanna guess which was which? ];>

JH>If your board could work with the SDRAM sticks, I'd be interested to
JH>hear the results of a test with CacheChk.exe to see if the DIMM ran
JH>faster than the SIMMS, and which bank ended up in the highest memory
JH>addresses.

Hard to say which bank would get the upper range when mixed but
looks like the dimm does. Manual would have you believe that the
sdram will give you a performance boost though.

PW>> The pair of simms right next to the dimm are both the same bank.
JH>BANK0, or BANK1?

 1

PW>> Too bad that as otherwise I'd have 96meg in this box 'stead of 64meg.
JH>If it could finally work with a 64MB DIMM, that might still be
JH>possible, but if it has an Intel VX Chipset like Roy's, why bother?

'9x might work from the top down but I'd think w/ dos it's bottom up.
Not that I've got any dos stuff that really needs that much ram. ;>
