How many times have I seen a piece of self-propelled artillery described
as a "tank." I once saw Time (as I recall) publish a picture of an M40
Duster captioned as "a double-barreled tank." :-)
The Daily Pravda in Newport News, Virginia, routinely has column heads
about someone assuming the "reigns" of power -- I have sent them three
or four letters explaining that those leather straps used to steer
horses are "reins." :-)

Many of the more experienced journalists make the same mistakes -- in
some cases, I think they have the "Clinton syndrome" -- they loathe the
military too much to actually learn anything about it.
