Wouldn't that mean that the CD/RW machine is getting arthritis?  On
average I've used it maybe once every week or two for a year and a
half.  Doesn't sound like enough to make it start dying.  Do these
lasers croak whether or not they are used?

I've read that there is NO evidence that any of the devices claimed to
clean the laser lens etc do any good. That said to save you $20.
