I would like to be able to MP>dial into my home network, from remote, using possibly as little as MP>Arachne for DOS, and be able to access my home internet connection. MP>Mostly, I would want to be able to dial-in, and then use telnet to access MP>an e-mail account. However, I might also want to do some surfing, either MP>via Arachne on the remote, or by using lynx on the machine that I have MP>dialed-in on. MP>Is this possible? I think that I have seen packages for debian, as well MP>as an option under Windows setup, that might allow this. I guess I am MP>wondering, if the machine that is dialing-in has to be running the same MP>OS, or even package, as the machine being dialed into. I've used VNC (www.realvnc.com) for this sort of thing as well as remote control. XP has additional capabilities but with W9x you're left to something like VNC or a commercial product. VNC is free and has various tweaked versions for more specialized needs - TightVNC (www.tightvnc.com) has additional compression for slower links, f'rinstance... ___ *Durango b211 * DurangoMail for Windows NT/9x --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 106/2000 633/267 |
