ST> We don't have anything like that. Although the other book store I am now
ST> working in is on the Interlock System, matching rare books to people who
ST> want them.
IK> Interloc. We do that too, jointly, with the Collectors Corner people.
IK> The problem is that most people are just looking for reading copies
IK> of books which only were published in paperback ... and won't be in
IK> any dealers' inventory ... only musty old used book stores which
IK> wouldn't dream of keeping an inventory much less making it available
IK> on the Internet, etc.
Ah, but that is exactly what this bookstore is doing. It is a musty,
dusty place, with books on every available surface. Little by little we
are listing all these books on Interloc. (Guess I didn't know how to
spell it!)
IK> Our store runs on BookLog (software). It tracks total $ by customer,
IK> last time in store, avg. sale, etc. There's 100 people who make up
IK> 40% of our business. There's another 400 who make up the next 40%.
ST> That is what we use at the other store I work at (Books Abound). At MMM
ST> we use Anthology. There are MANY things about it I don't like.
IK> Do you own a chunk of one store?
Nope. Wish I did. The owner of one sometimes talks about letting us buy
it on a land contract but I think he'd be lost without it.
IK> What do you not like about Booklog? My view is that it's the least
IK> bad system available. Also, there's a zillion versions, and people
IK> complain in many cases because of what the older versions were like
IK> and/or because they never upgraded.
I love Booklog! It's Anthology I don't like.
