Hi, Dieter.

DM> DM> I forget - AWA i think. In Talavera Rd, Nth Ryde.

DM> FM> Yeah, that's right - I'll call them.

DM> Don't rush - you could also try QMS in Melbourne - I don't know
DM> if they are local in Sydney though.

Well I sure ain't sending it to Melbourne! As you know, this fucker is
*heavy*.

DM> DM> Any luck at getting it going ? Any sense of the settings ? I

DM> FM> No luck. It's been powered off for about a week, turned it on when I
DM> FM> read your message. The p/o sequence took the normal long time, but no
DM> FM> sample page at the end.

DM> Just have a quick look yourself - make sure all the plugables
DM> are reseated, and the connectors are in properly.

Yeah, I'll certainly do all that stuff first, probably this weekend.

DM> DM> did have a problem with the very short active time, and nothing
DM> DM> would print, unless it was a very short text page. I obtained
DM> DM> the following from QMS:

DM> DM> serverdict begin 0 exitserver
DM> DM> statusdict begin
DM> DM> 25 9600 0 setsccbatch
DM> DM> setdefaulttimeouts 0 60 30
DM> FM> . ^^^^^^^ Shouldn't the parameters come before
DM> FM> the command, PostScript being a stack
DM> FM> machine?

DM> Dunno, aint done Postscript programming. But this worked for me
DM> anyway. And was direct from QMS USA Tech Support.

I've done a bit, it's real interesting without a manual! :-) Word for
Windows allows you to send PS commands directly, which I used to write
my watermark thingy and a couple of other things that Word doesn't
allow.

DM> FM> I told it that, no response. I think it's not receiving anything,
DM> FM> certainly the light's not flashing. If I can't think of anything
DM> FM> else I'll get AWA to look at it.

DM> Checked the thumbwheel position ? Are your comms to the printer
DM> OK ?

Checked the thumbwheel, in fact tried all the positions. I'll include
the comms in my w/e experimenting.

Regards, FIM.
