I seem to be half way between this and that. I have ACD 0.53. I
shudder think think of messing around with my CDRecord installation in
any fashion, but do you think I would be well advised to install ACD
0.56?

Since you seem about CDRecord I have a basic question. What, in
super-non-technical terms, is CDDB? And probably more importantly, why
do I need to know/why do I need it? Maybe a better wording yet, what
can I NOT do without it?

(The reason I use the term "super-non-technical" is that there are
obviously a zillion web pages about CDDB, but they seem to have either
no simple, useful - to me - definition of CDDB or waaaay too much
information about its history, details, technicallities, etc. Kind of
like a scientific analusis of "bread" instead of saying it's what you
make sandwiches out of.)
