Thanks, Steven.
I did this, and the message on boot is that the USB Serial Driver is
installed as COM2. I have the hardware COM2 disabled in the BIOS.
mode com2 gives this result:
[C:\]mode com2
baud = 2400 parity = NONE
databits = 8 stopbits = 1
TO = OFF XON = OFF
IDSR = OFF ODSR = OFF
OCTS = OFF DTR = ON
RTS = ON BUFFER = N/A
However, the purpose of the exercise was to be able to use PMFax with a
USB-connected modem. Although PMFax recognizes that it is supposed to use
COM2 to send and receive, it reports that the modem does not respond
correctly when I attempt to send a fax. If I put the fmd.sys driver in
config.sys, the lights on the modem don't even flash when I send the fax.
If this is an interrupt or I/O address issue, how can I figure out what
the correct interrupt and I/O address are? They are not shown in the
Hardware Manager, or in the output from rmview /IRQ.
