I had one. It was a JCPenny VCR that I got as a gift when the HiFi ones
were just comming out. You could put whatever you wanted on the HiFi
audio tracks while you were recording video and whatever sound the video
had was put on the normal audio track. You could not record them
in seperate sessions though. When you played it back you could select
whether you wanted the HiFi audio track or the normal audio track.
I went nuts with it for a while recording music bucause the sound was
actually quite good but found out later that VHS tapes lose quality very
quickly. Now I have a pile of VHS tapes with music on them that are
just about useless.
The deck did not live very long. After about 4-5 years of use it had
worn the head very badly and a new head was more than a new VCR so it
ended up in a Goodwill box many years ago.
After becoming discouraged about the tapes wearing out so quickly, I
didn't even look for this feature when I bought my last two VCRs.
Later
