Project Icarus was a plan devised by the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (M.I.T.) to place rockets with nuclear warheads on a platform
orbiting the Earth at a specified distance in space to protect us from just
such an event. I forget what year this came out, but now would be a good
time to reinstitute the plan, if we haven't already. (-:

In my case, YES! It would be redundant, but not everyone feels as we do.
