thank you for your reply, i'll download their pdf file again and take
another look, perhaps i was premature in dismissing it. i was unaware
their was a non-RPI comit, it's a large PDF file and i didn't find
any reference to hardware compression and correction. i was looking
at the 56kflex as it has flash rom and data pump and was highly rated
by cnet, however if it doesn't support Linux it's out. thank you for
