Vern was returning fire at Paul
about 1911 Triggers
VH> There, I agree -- I left the trigger of my M1927 Argentine (which is
VH> my carry gun) alone -- never touched it.
The old trigger action was too light (for an everyday carry gun) and
less than crisp. Smooth but mushy, if that makes any sense.
We decided to go with a couple of minor mods to bring it up to 4#,
with an adjustable trigger and stoning or whatever appropriate for
"feel."
When he got into it it turns out that we've got some significant wear
issues to deal with -- and a resulting parts list that we'd not
anticipated. So instead of a $50-75 repair bill it's looking more in
the buck and a half range. Course, the good part of that news is that
we can build it pretty much the way we want it. (I guess that's the
"looking on the bright side" attitude...or stupidity. )
I didn't particular _want_ to have to spend another couple hundred
bucks on smithing...but then I didn't want to have to spend a couple of
hundred on fixing the truck either.
Hmm, livin' in a fix-up house, drivin' a fix-up truck, campin' in a
fix-up trailer, carryin' a fix up 1911. Something's wrong here .
